Mirjam Van Praag, Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Professor of Entrepreneurship: What makes an entrepreneur?
Can you really teach people to become entrepreneurs or is it more or less a genetic matter whether or not people will start up ventures? And if the environment has a role, what kind of instruments do we have to promote more or better entrepreneurship? What can we do at a business school? And what kind of skills and behavior are characteristic of (successful) entrepreneurs? So, what and how should we teach (prospective) entrepreneurs?
Department of Innovation and Organizational Economics is the proud host of a very prestigious donation from the ‘A. P. Møller og Hustru Chastine Mc-Kinney Møllers Fond til almene Formaal’. The Foundation has donated 40 million Danish kroner to the establishment of an Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship and thus provided CBS with the opportunity to strengthen its research and education activities within entrepreneurship.
Toke Reichstein, Professor of Economics and Management of Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Models for Overcoming the Challenge of Securing Funding
One of the major obstacles for becoming an entrepreneur and making a newly established venture grow is to secure funding and resources. There are a multitude of ways in which funding can be secured. More recently we have seen the emergence of consumer-funded businesses. All models have advantages and drawbacks. By knowing more about the options, entrepreneurs will be better positioned to select an optimal form and the market for capital will more frictionless reach an optimal outcome of matching. Toke Reichstein will briefly present the various options and specifically address a new and novel proven model which is donations based.
